CoffeeModes is a discovery platform. We review and publish listings for opportunities run by third parties — we are not the provider, employer, sponsor or payment processor for those opportunities unless we say so explicitly.

1. Acceptance of these terms

CoffeeModes is operated by Becoming Solo LLC ("CoffeeModes", "we", "us"). Questions about these terms: legal@coffeemodes.com.

By browsing CoffeeModes, creating an account, submitting an opportunity, buying a listing, subscribing to a Poster Plan or CoffeeModes Plus, or purchasing featured placement, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility and account responsibilities

You must be at least 18 years old to create a CoffeeModes account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping your credentials confidential.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly at support@coffeemodes.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

3. Acceptable use

  • Do not misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any organization.
  • Do not submit fraudulent, misleading, unsafe or illegal opportunities.
  • Do not scrape, resell or systematically copy CoffeeModes listings.
  • Do not attempt to interfere with the platform's security, availability or moderation systems.
  • Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against other users, providers or staff.

4. Third-party opportunity listings

Listings describe opportunities operated by third parties: research firms, brands, universities, agencies, foundations and individual organizers. CoffeeModes reviews submissions before publishing, but review is not a guarantee of outcome, payment, safety or continued availability.

Any agreement you enter into is between you and the provider. Compensation, screening criteria, scheduling and payment are controlled by the provider.

4A. Editorial, poster and applicant responsibilities

CoffeeModes provides opportunity discovery, editorial review, publication, and optional application-management tools. Review may involve requesting corrections, declining publication or removing content. CoffeeModes does not guarantee applications, selection, employment, or payment by third-party opportunity providers. CoffeeModes remains responsible for its own services and applicable legal obligations. Opportunities explicitly operated by CoffeeModes are identified as such and are not third-party opportunities.

The third-party poster or organizer is responsible for truthful and authorized content, lawful requirements and screening criteria, selection, scheduling, compensation, participant data handling and applicable laws. Research incentives, grant awards and competition prizes are not automatically employment wages; whether employment laws apply depends on the actual arrangement, not the category label.

For on-platform applications, posters author their questions and authorized organizers review answers. CoffeeModes may suggest editable answers from an applicant’s Fit Profile; nothing is sent until the applicant submits. Authorized organizers control invitation and not-selected decisions. Automated tools transmit or display the organizer’s decision; a CoffeeModes notification is not an independent hiring or selection decision. Personalized discovery ranks opportunities for members, not candidates for employers.

For an employment advertisement, use an employer-controlled external application page. The employer reviews applications and makes all hiring and payment decisions. Other opportunities may use optional poster-controlled screening on CoffeeModes.

CoffeeModes does not charge applicants a placement or application fee for these listing application tools. Optional paid member benefits do not buy selection or require a third-party organizer to accept an applicant. This does not prohibit a clearly disclosed lawful event admission price or optional expense, and it does not authorize pay-to-work or access-to-payment scams.

Posting Standards explain prohibited and misleading content. Use the listing’s Report action to raise concerns; reports are reviewed rather than automatically changing a public listing. Posters may request reconsideration through support, providing the listing or submission reference and corrected facts. Publication and payment requirements remain separate from a moderation appeal; refund requests follow the applicable policy and law, not an automatic refund or forfeiture invented by these standards.

6. User submissions

Anyone can submit an opportunity for review. By submitting, you confirm you have permission to share the content and that the details — compensation, eligibility, deadline and application URL — are accurate.

You grant CoffeeModes a non-exclusive licence to edit, format, publish, promote and remove submitted content on the platform. We may reject, request changes to, or remove any submission.

7. Saved searches and notifications

Saved searches match new published listings against filters you choose, and can notify you by email or push notification. Delivery depends on third-party mail and push services, and we cannot guarantee that every matching listing is delivered or delivered on time.

You can edit or delete saved searches and change delivery channels at any time in your account settings.

8. CoffeeModes Plus

CoffeeModes Plus is an optional recurring subscription billed monthly or annually. It provides member benefits such as earlier access surfaces, expanded saved-search capacity and a discount on featured-placement purchases.

Plus renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. See the Refund and Cancellation Policy for details.

8A. Poster services and subscriptions

These paid services are sold by Becoming Solo LLC to people and organizations that post opportunities ("posters"). All prices are in US dollars and are shown before checkout.

A one-time standard listing fee buys the stated publication duration, not successful hiring, completed participation, applicant counts or introductions. There are no per-hire, per-candidate-success or contingency fees, and no applicant placement charge.

Standard listings are one-time purchases for a single opportunity, published for the duration bought: 7 days for $29, 14 days for $49, 30 days for $79. Every listing is reviewed first. You are charged only after an editor approves the listing: a payment link then appears in My submissions, and the listing is published after payment is confirmed. If a listing is rejected before payment, you are not charged. Editors may also request changes before approving.

First-listing offer: an eligible account's first standard listing is 20% off, applied once (for example, the 30-day listing is $63.20 instead of $79). Eligibility is checked at checkout, and the discounted total is shown before you pay.

The Poster Plan is a recurring subscription: $99 per month, or $990 per year for the annual plan. It includes up to 4 standard listings in each monthly allowance period. An included listing is counted when it is published, not when it is submitted. The allowance resets at the start of each monthly period, and unused listings do not roll over. Plan listings are reviewed like any other listing.

The Poster Plan is charged when you subscribe and then renews automatically at the same price each month (or year for the annual plan) until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time from Manage billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and your allowance stays available until then. If a renewal payment fails, included listings are unavailable until the plan is active again.

A listing purchase or Poster Plan covers review and publication on CoffeeModes. It does not guarantee any number of views, applications, participants or hires. Refund requests are handled under the Refund and Cancellation Policy and applicable law. Contact support@coffeemodes.com with the charge date and the listing or plan involved.

9. One-time featured-opportunity purchases

Featured placement is a one-time promotional purchase for a specific opportunity and a specific date range. Featured placement is advertising: it does not mean CoffeeModes editorially endorses the listing, and it is displayed separately from CoffeeModes Picks.

We do not guarantee any number of impressions, clicks, applications, participants or revenue. See the Paid Featuring and Advertising Policy.

10. Payments and Stripe

All payments are processed by Stripe. CoffeeModes does not receive or store your full card number. Prices are shown in US dollars before checkout and charged at the amount confirmed on the Stripe Checkout page.

You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase where they are not collected at checkout.

11. Cancellations

Subscription cancellations and featured-placement cancellations are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Intellectual property

The CoffeeModes name, logo, editorial copy, curation, page design and software are owned by CoffeeModes. Provider names and marks belong to their owners and are used to identify listings.

You may link to CoffeeModes pages and share individual listings. You may not republish our curated collections in bulk.

13. Disclaimers

CoffeeModes is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that listings are error-free, that opportunities remain open, that providers will pay, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoffeeModes is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities or unpaid compensation owed by a provider.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid CoffeeModes in the twelve months before the claim.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify CoffeeModes against claims arising from content you submit, opportunities you operate, or your misuse of the platform.

16. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, the Community Guidelines or the Opportunity Submission Guidelines, or where required to protect users. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and material changes are announced on the platform before they take effect.
