Frequently asked questions

Short answers about how CoffeeMode works, what it costs, and what our labels mean.

What is CoffeeMode?

CoffeeMode is a curated discovery platform for paid opportunities. We collect listings from research firms, brands, universities, foundations and organizers, review each one by hand, and publish only the ones with a real provider, clear compensation and a working application link.

What kinds of paid opportunities does CoffeeMode list?

Paid research studies and focus groups, user testing sessions, short-term gigs and creator work, grants and funding calls, competitions and open calls. We do not list conventional full-time job vacancies, unpaid work, or anything that asks the participant to pay a fee.

How are opportunities reviewed?

Every submission enters a moderation queue. A reviewer verifies the provider's identity, checks that the application URL resolves to the provider's own form, confirms the stated compensation and eligibility, and checks the deadline. Listings that fail any of these checks are sent back for changes or rejected.

How do saved searches work?

Set filters on Explore — category, location, remote, minimum compensation, deadline — and save them. Each newly published listing is matched against your saved searches, and you are notified by email or push depending on your notification settings. You can edit or delete a saved search at any time.

What is a CoffeeMode Pick?

A CoffeeMode Pick is an editorial selection made by our team because the opportunity is unusually worthwhile — good compensation for the time, a credible provider and a low-friction application. Picks cannot be purchased and are labelled separately from Featured listings.

How does CoffeeMode Plus work?

Plus is an optional subscription billed monthly or annually. It adds member benefits such as expanded saved-search capacity, earlier access surfaces and a discount on featured placement. You can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

How can someone report an inaccurate opportunity?

Use the report control on any listing page to tell us the details are wrong, the deadline has passed, the link is broken or the opportunity looks unsafe. Reports go straight to the moderation queue, and you can also email support@coffeemodes.com.

Does CoffeeMode cost anything?

Browsing, saving opportunities and applying are free. CoffeeMode Plus and one-time featured placement are the only paid products, and you never pay CoffeeMode to apply to an opportunity.

Who pays participants?

The provider running the opportunity pays participants directly, on the terms stated in their own application process. CoffeeMode is not the payer and does not handle participant compensation.

Can I submit my own opportunity?

Yes. Anyone can submit an opportunity for review from the Post an Opportunity page. Submissions are free; review takes a few business days, and featuring is an optional purchase after approval.

Where does CoffeeMode operate?

CoffeeMode launched in New York City and also lists remote opportunities open to participants elsewhere. More cities are being added as coverage grows.

What happens to expired opportunities?

Once a deadline passes, the listing is labelled expired and its application button is disabled, but the page stays available for reference with links to current alternatives in the same category.
