Draft for owner and counsel review. These standards cover third-party studies, gigs, grants, creator work, competitions, events and employment advertisements submitted for editorial publication. They are not legal clearance or a guarantee that a listing is lawful.

1. Truthful, authorized opportunities

Post only a real opportunity you are authorized to describe. Identify the actual organizer and your relationship to them. Keep eligibility, location, tasks, time commitments, deadlines and compensation accurate; correct material changes through the existing submission or reporting process.

Posters set lawful eligibility and screening criteria, review responses, decide invitations and selection, and fulfill compensation, payout and other obligations. CoffeeModes independently reviews and moderates publication; editorial approval does not guarantee applications, selection, employment or third-party payment.

A one-time standard listing fee buys the stated publication duration, not successful hiring, completed participation, applicant counts or introductions. There are no per-hire, per-candidate-success or contingency fees, and no applicant placement charge.

  • No fraud, impersonation, fabricated affiliation, fake reviews or invented opportunities.
  • No bait-and-switch payment, guaranteed selection or earnings, false urgency, misleading eligibility or deadlines, or implied CoffeeModes endorsement.
  • Disclose material conditions, limits, participant costs and how incentives, wages or prizes are earned and delivered. Do not describe a benefit or chance of a prize as guaranteed cash.

2. Lawful eligibility and employment pay disclosure

Do not offer illegal, discriminatory, exploitative or unsafe work or participation. Eligibility must be relevant, factually described and lawful for the actual activity. A lawful research recruitment criterion is not automatically an employment criterion.

Employment listings must comply with applicable wage, nondiscrimination and pay-transparency rules. Where New York’s pay-transparency law applies, include the good-faith minimum and maximum salary or hourly compensation, or lawful fixed rate, and the job description if one exists visibly in the listing itself; describe commission-only compensation as required by applicable law. A policy link or external application page is not a substitute for required visible disclosure.

Study incentives, creator arrangements, grants and competition prizes must be described truthfully but are not all employment. Labels or these disclosures do not determine worker classification or employment-agency licensing; the actual conduct and applicable law do.

3. Costs, incentives and financial safety

No upfront pay-to-work, deposits to unlock compensation, investment or purchase requirements disguised as paid participation, financial-credential collection or fake-check/reimbursement schemes. No MLM, pyramid or recruitment-to-get-paid schemes.

Legitimate paid studies and honestly described grants and prizes are allowed subject to review. A clearly disclosed lawful event admission price or optional expense is not automatically prohibited: state the amount, purpose and whether it is required. Do not disguise event tickets as paid work. Existing startup-validation rules remain stricter: participants cannot be required to buy, pay or invest to join or receive the promised benefit.

4. Privacy-safe, poster-controlled screening

Ask only relevant, proportionate questions needed to assess participation. No harvesting applicant data for unrelated marketing, selling answers or imposing excessive sensitive screening. On-platform forms prohibit financial/login credentials, identity documents or numbers and specified sensitive traits; do not try to evade validation through coded wording or redirects.

Explain any necessary data use truthfully. The poster controls the questions and selection decisions; CoffeeModes provides the tools and may transmit the organizer’s invitation through automation. External destinations must accurately identify who collects data and why.

For an employment advertisement, use an employer-controlled external application page. The employer reviews applications and makes all hiring and payment decisions. Other opportunities may use optional poster-controlled screening on CoffeeModes.

6. Review, reports and reconsideration

Submission requests enter editorial review; payment does not purchase approval. Editors may request corrections, refuse publication, recategorize or remove content under the existing policies. Use Report on the listing for inaccurate, misleading or unsafe content; a report does not automatically change the listing.

For changes requested, use My submissions to correct and resubmit. For a refusal or removal, contact support with the submission or listing reference, the decision you dispute and supporting facts. This is a request for human reconsideration, not a guaranteed reversal or a new automatic appeal process.

A standard listing rejected before payment is not charged. The Refund Policy’s One-time Standard Listing Publication section contains six refund rules, including poster cancellation before publication. Existing featuring, merchandise and subscription commitments are not changed by these rules.
